Dr. Leysen is a board-certified clinical optometrist who will see patients at our Fort Myers and Punta Gorda locations. He brings a strong clinical background, a passion for patient care, and a commitment to helping patients achieve their best possible vision and long-term eye health.
A Passion for Personalized Eye Care
For Dr. Leysen, optometry is about more than prescribing glasses or contact lenses—it’s about building relationships, solving problems, and helping patients maintain healthy vision throughout every stage of life.
Known for his approachable personality and patient-centered philosophy, Dr. Leysen believes every appointment is an opportunity to listen, educate, and develop personalized treatment plans that meet each patient’s unique needs.
“I strive to treat every day as a new learning experience and every patient as an individual,” said Dr. Leysen. “I enjoy working together with patients to find solutions that help them see better, feel better, and protect their vision for the future.”
Extensive Training in Primary Care and Ocular Disease
Dr. Leysen earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry after completing a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Winona State University.
His clinical training included rotations at respected institutions across the country, where he gained experience caring for patients with a wide range of vision and eye health conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other ocular diseases.
Dr. Leysen has extensive experience managing post-operative cataract patients. He is also certified to perform treatments for patients who have received the Light Adjustable Lens.
His experience allows him to provide comprehensive eye care ranging from routine vision exams and contact lens fittings to the diagnosis and management of ocular disease.

As an eye care professional who values both clinical excellence and personal connections, Dr. Leysen is excited to join the Collins Vision family and serve patients throughout Southwest Florida.
