If you’ve met our Dr. Nicole E. Alessi, you won’t be surprised to hear she’s recently been recognized for her leadership and community spirit. We’re so proud of her, we want everyone to know that Dr. Alessi was awarded a coveted spot on the 2020 40 Under 40 list at Gulfshore Magazine!
The publication recognizes 40 rising stars each year (all under the age of 40) who individually shine in their professions and their communities in a variety of ways. This is the 18th year Gulfshore Business has saluted young achievers in Southwest Florida. Fun Fact: Dr. Collins made the list back in 2009!
A Giver at Heart
Long before she joined the Collins Vision family, Dr. Alessi was driven to help others. While her career choice as an optometrist lets her help people see and feel their best every day, it also allows her to give back.
Just last year, Dr. Alessi traveled to Mexico with the Lions Club of Caborca to assist in sight-restoring surgery for an underserved and impoverished population, while also treating diabetic retinopathy and dispensing hundreds of pairs of glasses to the local children.

In 2020, international travel was out of the question, but that didn’t stop Dr. Alessi from finding creative ways to serve and help those around her. She organized Zoom meetings for friends and neighbors who were quarantining alone during Florida’s “Safer at Home” order. She also made masks for Golisano Children’s Hospital and assisted the United Way with various PPE projects.
Is it any wonder Dr. Alessi is a fan favorite around here? Her patients love her as much as we do!
“My husband has Alzheimer’s and no one could be more patient and loving than Dr. Alessi,” said Pauline R. How sweet is that?
And what about this one from patient Susan S.? “I really like Dr. Alessi. She is so positive and cheerful! Not to mention I love her shoes!” We’ll be honest; we love her shoes too.

A Little More About Dr. Alessi
Dr. Alessi is a board-certified optometrist who serves as director of our Dry Eye Clinic. When she’s not seeing patients at our Fort Myers and Naples locations, she enjoys spending time outdoors on the water in her kayak and traveling, exploring new places and cultures, wherever she can. Oh, and adding to that awesome shoe collection, too!
