On Friday, March 18th, board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained eye surgeon, Dr. Michael J. Collins of Collins Vision performed laser vision correction surgery at no charge on Austin Moore through a nationwide program called Focus on Independence. Focus on Independence is a non-profit organization that provides laser vision correction at no cost to disabled individuals who are unable to use their arms or hands to handle eyeglasses and contact lenses. For someone like Austin with limited mobility, imperfect vision is not just an inconvenience, but a true obstacle in living his best, most independent life. “Treating Austin has been a pleasure. I am so thrilled that he chose us to help lighten his burden by giving him a life free from glasses and contacts”, says Dr. Michael Collins. “Our hope is that this gives him one less thing to worry about and allows him to fully focus on his road to recovery”.
