Kiss Dry Eye Goodbye in 2023

Welcome, 2023! We’re glad you’re here. For many of us, 2022 came with its share of challenges. And it feels safe to say we are ready for a fresh start in a fresh year. What do you have your eyes set on in the new year? More time with precious family and friends? A stable economy? Improved health? If you are someone who suffers from chronic dry eye, Collins Vision can help with that improved health resolution!

What is Dry Eye?

Dry Eye occurs when there is a problem with the quality or quantity of tears your tear ducts make. If that balance is off, the result is scratchy, gritty, irritated, fatigued eyes. Dry eye is more common today than ever before. It’s been estimated that more than 100 million people worldwide suffer from dry eye.

The most common type of dry eye is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), a condition that occurs when your Meibomian glands (the ones that produce oil) get blocked or the oil is of poor quality. As a result, your tears evaporate too quickly, drying out your eyes.

How is MGD Treated?

The goal of treatment at Collins Vision is to repair and unblock the clogged up meibomian glands. Depending on the severity of your condition, we may recommend our Dry Eye Treatment Package, which combines a series of powerful tools designed to clean and clear your oil-producing glands and restore a healthy tear film.

We’re especially excited to introduce two new powerful therapies that are showing great promise in helping people overcome chronic dry eye.

Make Better Tears with Forma-I

Forma-I is performed using an innovative, temperature-controlled radiofrequency device. It uses heat to stimulate collagen production and gently tighten the skin around the eyes while also improving the quality of your tears. It can be done comfortably in the office with no downtime!

This treatment is a great option for those seeking immediate results as it can be performed as a stand-alone treatment or can be paired with other modalities to further combat dry eye symptoms. And bonus benefit; the treatment stimulates collagen production which can improve fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes.

Bright Eyes with Lumecca IPL

Lumecca uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to effectively treat several eye conditions, including dry eye, ocular rosacea and blepharitis. Controlled light pulses stimulate the tissues around the eyes, targeting blood vessels and reducing inflammation along the eyelid margin. Lumecca’s wavelengths, pulse rate and duration can be tailored to your unique ocular condition. Like Forma, Lumecca is safe and can be performed quickly right here in the office.

Most of our patients see immediate improvement in dry eye symptoms and enjoy aesthetic benefits, including decreased redness, sun spots and hyperpigmentation.
