August is National Eye Exam Month! It’s time to celebrate by getting your annual medical eye exam on the books at Collins Vision. Medical eye exams are exams our optometrists perform to look for common eye diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and more. When you turn 40, it is recommended that you get a baseline medical eye exam so your doctor has a record of what your eyes look like. From there, your doctor will recommend you get exams at intervals that are tailored to your vision needs.
Modern medical technology allows us to detect and diagnose a plethora of eye conditions before they even start to show symptoms. During your exam, we’ll run several tests to make sure you’re not at risk for developing a condition that could permanently affect your vision before we have a chance to treat it. For most conditions, the earlier we know about a potential problem, the easier it is for us to treat. That’s why it’s important to come see us as often as your doctor recommends.
And the good news is that medical eye exams are billed through your medical insurance, including Medicare, so you don’t need vision insurance to be covered.
